Title: Optimal Riesz Potentials for Discrete Measures
(Joint with S. Borodachov, D. Hardin and E. Saff)
Abstract: The problem of N-point maximal discrete polarization for Riesz potentials (also known as "N-th Chebyshev constant) is related to various energy minimizing problems. We survey some recent results about asymptotic behavior of "maximal discrete polarization" and limiting distribution of maximizing configurations. We compare these results to known results on minimal energy and explain why, in certain sense, polarization is more difficult.
