We hired four new Van Vleck Assistant Professors this year, three of whom are supported partially by our NSF VIGRE grant.
Alfred Dolich received the PhD in 2002 from the University of Maryland. His thesis ``On independence relations in model theory'' was written under the supervision of M. C. Laskowski. Alfred has a B.A. in mathematics and chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania and a M.A. in mathematics from Columbia University. He lists his research interests as model theory, simple theories, and o-minimal theories with secondary interests in algebraic geometry and set theory. Alfred is a VIGRE Van Vleck. |
Natalia Rozhkovskaya received an M.S. (Diploma) from Moscow State University (Russia) and a PhD in 2002 from the University of Pennsylvania. Her thesis ``Quantum family algebras'' was supervised by A. A. Kirillov. Natalia lists her research interests as representation theory, combinatorics. Lie groups and Lie algebras. |
John Vano received his PhD from the University of Texas at Austin in 2002. Earlier he received a B.A. in honors mathematic and honors physics from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Paul, Minnesota. His PhD work was supervised by Rafel de la Llave; the title of his thesis was ``Nash-Moser implicit function theorem with Whitney regularity and applications.'' John describes his research interests as investigation and exploration of real world problems and phenomena using the tools and techniques of dynamical systems, nonlinear control, geometry and partial differential equations. John is also a VIGRE and Project NEXT Fellow. |
Jesenko Vukadinovic grew up in Bosnia-Herzegovina, studied in Sarajevo, received a Diplom-Mathematiker from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich, Germany, and a PhD in Applied Mathematics from Indiana University in 2001. His thesis was supervised by Ciprian Foias and was titled ``On the backward behavior of the solutions of the 2D periodic Kelvin filtered Navier-Stokes equations.'' Jesenko lists his research interests as partial differential equations, fluid dynamics, and kinetic theory. He is also a VIGRE fellow. |
