Travel and Logistics

Transportation within Madison:  Talks, registration, and breaks will be held in Van Vleck Hall [campus map], approximately 2km from the Best Western Inn Towner.
-There is a hotel shuttle, but the capacity is quite limited.  We suggest the following alternatives.
-Three bus lines (#2, #10, #19) stop near the Inn Towner and provide direct service to campus (see Google Maps for stop locations).  One way fares are $2, and one may purchase 10-ride passes at the University Book Store (711 State).  The free "Transit" app provides real time route info.  [Madison Metro]
-It is very reasonable to walk down University Ave to campus.
-With advance planning, one could also share taxi. If you order a taxi from Van Vleck Hall, they generally pick up in the small parking lot between Elizabeth Waters (1200 Observatory) and Social Sciences (1180 Observatory).

Travel to Madison: You can fly directly into Madison (MSN) and take a taxi to the hotel.  For those coming from overseas, it is often more convenient and cheaper to fly into Chicago O'Hare and take the Van Galder bus.  The bus drops off in front of the Chazen Museum on campus, and it is possible to take a taxi, city bus, or walk from there. http://www.coachusa.com/vangalder/

Important:  If we are reimbursing your travel, please do not book your flight before receiving instructions from us, as UW System reimbursement policies have become very strict.  Reimbursable airfares will have to be booked through a UW contracted travel agency.

Accommodations:  Most of our conference participants will be staying at the Best Western Inn Towner.  At this time, we have exhausted our room block, so you may need to book hotel accommodations at a different hotel in Madison.  This should be done soon, as UW Madison commencement is on Sunday, May 15.

Those needing assistance finding childcare in Madison are welcome to email the local organizers, Betsy Stovall and Andreas Seeger, and we will help in any way we can.
