How to reach Cortona
By plane
You can reach Cortona flying to:
- Firenze airport (best choice if available);
- Roma Fiumicino airport;
- Pisa airport.
From your arrival airport you can reach Cortona by train.
By train

The town of Cortona lies on a hill and the closest train station is at the foot of the hill.
The Cortona-Camucia station is on the Rome-Florence non high speed railway. This station is 4 km far from the town centre.
There is a public bus service from the station to Cortona, which runs more frequently during working days.
Alternatively you can take a taxi from the station to the town centre (see below for further information).
Coming from North (Florence)
If you arrive from North, you should take a RV train at Santa Maria Novella station in Florence and stop at the Camucia-Cortona railway station. It takes about 1h20’.
Coming from South (Rome)
If you arrive from South, you should take a RV train at the Roma Termini station and stop at the Camucia-Cortona railway station. It takes about 2h20’.
By car
From the motorway A1 take the exit "Val di Chiana" and follow the road signs to Cortona (about 15 min).
