Title: Manifestations of transversality in Fourier analysis

Abstract: In the first part of this talk we use the nonlinear Brascamp--Lieb inequality to further clarify the notion of transversality as it pertains to multilinear restriction theory. In the second part we discuss some manifestations of transversality in the study of linear extension operators, inspired by perspectives from X-ray tomography. This is joint work with Neal Bez, Stefan Buschenhenke, Michael Cowling and Taryn Flock, and Shohei Nakamura respectively.
