Registration will take place in Van Vleck Hall, outside of B102; this is on floor B1, down one floor from the ground level. Travel to Madison: You can fly directly into Madison (MSN) and take a taxi to the hotel. For those coming from overseas, it is often more convenient and cheaper to fly into Chicago O'Hare and take the Van Galder bus. The bus drops off in front of the Memorial Union on campus, and it is possible to take a taxi, city bus, or walk from there. We have reserved a block of rooms in the Best Western Plus InnTowner, which is a 1.3 mile walk to campus. There are also a number of city busses that run between the hotel and campus, as well as a hotel shuttle. Important: If we are reimbursing your travel, please do not book your flight before receiving instructions from us, as UW System reimbursement policies have become very strict. Reimbursable airfares will have to be booked through a UW contracted travel agency. Those needing assistance finding childcare in Madison are welcome to email the local organizers, Betsy Stovall and Brian Street, and we will help in any way we can.
Accessibility to and within Van Vleck Hall: There is an accessible entrance on the first floor of Van Vleck Hall (east entrance). The indoor route beginning at the west entrance of Chamberlain Hall provides elevator service up Observatory Hill. The nursing mothers' room is accessed through the second floor women's bathroom of Van Vleck Hall. Please let the organizers know if these facilities are inadequate.
The UW-Madison Policy on Sexual Harassment and Sexual Violence prohibits sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking, and it outlines resources and applicable grievance procedures; The UW System Regent Policy Document 14-6 prohibits discrimination and harassment on the basis of legally protected characteristics. Discrimination and harassment complaints are investigated through the UW-Madison of Office of Compliance complaint process. The organizers take these policies very seriously.
Anyone experiencing sexual harassment may contact the organizers, the Department Chair (Tonghai Yang), the Department Manager (Heidi Udelhoven), or the campus Title IX Coordinator (Lauren Hasselbacher) for help in filing a complaint or locating campus resources.
