Engaging conferences in different areas of mathematics regularly take place at our department, and our faculty carry out research in a broad array of mathematical disciplines. A significant proportion have joint appointments with other departments - Computer Science, Engineering, and Biology - and collaborate on interdisciplinary projects. Each year, many of them receive awards and distinctions for their research. The department as a whole has also done very well in recent national and international academic rankings.
